St Mawes Municipal Gardens
Planting that thrives in the unique conditions of coastal towns, combining resilience with natural beauty. Salt-tolerant shrubs, hardy perennials, and soft, flowing grasses create a welcoming space that stands up to wind and sea spray. Designed for year-round appeal and minimal upkeep, the beds bring colour, texture, and a touch of the Cornish coast to the heart of the community.

Our work at St Mawes public garden brings together durability and charm, creating planting beds that flourish in the exposed conditions of Cornwall’s coastal towns. Using a palette of salt-tolerant and wind-resistant species, we’ve designed a landscape that offers movement, colour, and texture throughout the year. Inspired by the surrounding seascape, the beds are shaped with natural contours and softened with coastal textures, echoing the beauty of the nearby shoreline.
Built for longevity and ease of care, the planting scheme uses drought-tolerant varieties, mulch to retain moisture, and gravel paths for effective drainage and weed suppression. The result is a vibrant, resilient, and low-maintenance space that invites locals and visitors to enjoy the spirit of the Cornish coast all year round.
